The National Healthy Start Association (NHSA) invites you to join us for our 14th Annual Spring Conference on April 6-9, 2013 at the Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill in Washington, DC. The mission of NHSA is to be our nation’s voice in providing leadership and advocacy for health equity, services, and interventions that improve birth outcomes and family wellbeing. As part of our mission, NHSA promotes the development of community-based maternal and child health programs, particularly those addressing the issues of infant mortality, low birth weight and racial disparities in perinatal outcomes, through community engagement and grassroots efforts. The 2013 conference promises to educate, motivate, and promote collaboration among our 500+ attendees made up of Healthy Start project directors and staff, health care providers, MCH professionals, social workers, outreach workers, and consumers. This year’s theme, Moving Forward: Community Advocacy in an Era of Health Reform, encompasses everything that Healthy Start does across the nation to provide families with the tools they need to build strong community relationships, resources, and healthier families. This includes educating key community stakeholders, nationally and locally, that support the families we serve. The 2013 conference will provide attendees with a fundamental framework for advocating for our families as we all prepare to move into this new era of health care reform and as our Healthy Start projects prepare to adapt to this changing environment.
