Congress Approves $145 Million for Healthy Start for FY 2026

We are proud to announce that Congress has passed legislation providing $145 million in funding for the Healthy Start program for Fiscal Year 2026 (October 2025 through September 2026). This critical investment reinforces our nation’s commitment to improving maternal and infant health outcomes in communities that need it most.

The Healthy Start program plays a vital role improving outcomes in maternal and infant mortality and strengthening families through community-based care and support. This FY 2026 funding ensures that local Healthy Start projects can continue delivering lifesaving services, expanding outreach, and building healthier futures for parents and babies across the country.

Thank You to Our Members, Partners, and Champions

This achievement would not have been possible without the dedication and tireless advocacy of:

  • Healthy Start program directors and staff
  • The families served by Healthy Start programs
  • Community leaders and partner organizations
  • Maternal health advocates
  • Members of Congress who championed this funding

Your continued outreach, education, and leadership demonstrate the power of collective action in advancing improved outcomes in maternal and infant health.

We are especially grateful to the Members of Congress who supported this funding and recognized the importance of sustaining and strengthening Healthy Start in communities nationwide.

Major Milestone: Bipartisan, Bicameral Healthy Start Reauthorization Legislation Introduced

In addition to FY 2026 funding, we are excited to share that bipartisan, bicameral legislation has been introduced in Congress to reauthorize the Healthy Start program — a significant milestone for the program and the families it serves.

In the U.S. House of Representatives, the Healthy Start Reauthorization Act (H.R. 3302) was introduced by Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Representative Nicole Malliotakis (R-NY).

In the U.S. Senate, the Healthy Start Reauthorization Act of 2026 was introduced by Senator Roger “Doc” Marshall (R-KS), Senator Kirsten Gillibrand (D-NY), and Senator Tammy Baldwin (D-WI). See Senate Press Release here.

This bipartisan, bicameral leadership reflects broad and growing support for Healthy Start’s mission to improve maternal and infant health outcomes nationwide.

We extend our special thanks to Representatives Ocasio-Cortez and Malliotakis, and Senators Marshall, Gillibrand, and Baldwin for their leadership and commitment to strengthening Healthy Start.  We look forward to the swift passage of the Healthy Start reauthorization and to continuing our work with Congress and partners to ensure the program’s long-term impact for families across the nation.
